Biography of Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jnr. (Shatta Wale)

SHATTA WALE
Shatta Wale (formerly Bandana) was born on 17th October 1984 with the name Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jnr to Charles Mensah Snr and Madam Elsie. He is best known for his controversy in the music industry and the sparked up "Dancehall King" accolade that made news for over a year with other renowned artistes. He is an artiste under the record label Bullhaus Entertainment.


Early Life
Shatta Wale attended Datus Complex in the Greater Accra region of Ghana for his Junior High School education. He later continued to Winneba Secondary School. He loved the style of CJ Lewis and other stars like Shabba Ranks and Shaggy and this made him emulate them. He co joined another singer and artist Duke Thompson then called "Tobacco" (of D2) as they became an entertaining group. Shatta Wale then using the name "Doggy". They became a sensational duo in school and were on the minds of all school mates when it came to entertainment.

Music Career
Shatta Wale released the hit track "Bandana from Ghana" after Senior High, after changing his name to Bandana. In 2004, the song became a hit that was being requested  by the youth in the country day in day out. Shatta Wale became a household name in 2013. At the VGMAs, he threw lyrical insults to the organisers because he claimed they robbed him of the Dancehall Artist of the Year to Kaakie, a female artist in the same genre. Even though the song had vulgar lyrics,the media anticipated it and it created his musical breakthrough. He increased his fan base by uploading music on his Facebook fan page that recorded a lot of downloads in the country. In that same year, released "Dancehall King". A track that spearheaded him to become one of the most influential artistes in Ghana. In 2015, Shatta Wale asked not to be nominated in theVGMAs though he could have won the  Artiste & Song of the year for the second time running.  This was due to an impending court case with the organisers of the Awards for allegedly making defamatory remarks against the CEO of Charter House in a video on his Facebook fan page.
