EMMANUEL ANDREWS SAMINI
(SAMINI)
Emmanuel Andrews Samini A.K.A Samini (formerly as Batman Samini) is a Reggae and Dancehall artiste who was born in Accra, Ghana on 22 December 1981 to Mr G.A Samini and Theresa Nusala. Samini is from Wa in the Upper West Region of Ghana. His name, Samini literally means 'Rain God' in his native language. He had his basic education at Holy Family Basic School and then continued to St Margaret Mary Senior High School, Dansoman for his secondary education. He has lived in Dansoman from the age of 9 and that was when he discovered the inevitable singing potential in himself. His genre of music is a mixture of high-life, dancehall, reggae and hip-hop. He calls his brand of music as the "African dancehall". Now he is named the 'King of Dancehall' (quite competed) in Ghana.
Music Career
He started singing in a church choir at the age of 14 and became a musician after a musical collaboration in 1999. He was a part of the hiplife group known as Trinity which had KK Fosu and rapper Kokoveli as its other members. The group became famous for the hit song ‘zaaza’. They disbanded after few appearances. He would later fall off and reunite with both K.K Fosu and Kokoveli, promising to make Trinity, a once-to-be-visited idea. That idea has failed to fly but later came together to perform in 2014. His debut studio album, Dankwasere, was released in 2004. It was tops on the local music charts for weeks and the album was supported by the single "Linda". With just one album to his credit, the name "Batman" is one of the commonest names known in Ghanaian music. His songs are sung by almost every Ghanaian regardless of their position and status in society. On December 22nd, 2006 (his 25th Birthday), Batman officially changed his name to Samini. After releasing his second self-titled studio album, Samini, he released another album the next year in 2008 named Dagaati then another in 2014 named High Grade. He has a whole “signature tune” to himself “KPOOI” that he claims is a gunshot sound and that is his signal. It comes with every composition that he does. He has featured close to 50 tracks with other musicians (both released and unreleased). He has performed alongside Ja-Rule, Sean Paul, Akon, Kevin Lyttle, Shaggy, Wayne Wonder, Damien Marley, Bennie Man, Jay-Z, Chaka Demus & Pliers, Culture (of Blessed Memory) and Steel Pulse. He collaborated with Steel Pulse and Etana from Jamaica. He has received international recognition and toured the UK, Italy, the Netherlands, Germany and Canada.
